join us for a socially-distanced afternoon featuring a live reading from artist liu xiaodong’s diary entries that informed his exhibition, borders, followed by a guided writing exercise inspired by notions of identity, home, memory and movement.

this special edition of write with us will highlight poignant excerpts from xiaodong’s diary written during his travels to the u.s.-mexico border in 2019. beginning with a live reading by guest speakers, participants will be invited to follow along as these entries are read in the native language of the artist and the communities he visited along the border including chinese, spanish and english. immediately following the reading, guests will have the opportunity to reflect, contemplate and write their own diary entries made personal by their individual experiences with ever present topics explored in xiaodong’s writings and paintings.

this socially-distanced workshop is free to attend! spaces limited—registration required.
