Equity, diversity, and inclusion

At Dallas Contemporary, we believe in the transformative power of art and its potential to engage, inspire, and connect communities. Through exhibitions, public programs, lectures, workshops, and digital outreach, we strive to make contemporary art accessible and relevant to all. We recognize, however, that the arts have historically felt exclusionary or inaccessible—particularly to younger, underrepresented, and marginalized audiences. As a cultural institution, we are committed to actively addressing these barriers and continuing to expand access and inclusion at every level of our work.

EQUITY
We are dedicated to fulfilling our mission by fostering meaningful, equitable relationships with the communities we serve. We acknowledge the systemic inequities and historical legacies that continue to affect access to the arts and cultural participation. Through our programming, partnerships, and internal policies, we work to dismantle barriers and expand opportunities so that all individuals—regardless of background—can experience and contribute to the arts.

DIVERSITY

We embrace diversity as essential to the vitality of our institution and our ability to serve the public. We are committed to ensuring representation across all aspects of our work, including our audiences, exhibiting artists, staff, and Board of Directors. Our hiring and recruitment practices are centered on building a team that reflects the richness of the communities we serve, and we actively seek out voices, experiences, and perspectives that have been historically excluded from the arts

INCLUSION

We strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and heard. Through dynamic programming and strong community partnerships, we seek to amplify diverse perspectives, foster dialogue, and deepen mutual understanding. We are also committed to removing physical, linguistic, financial, and educational barriers to participation—ensuring that our space and programs are accessible to all, regardless of ability, background, or experience.

EDI GOALS
