register for a free on-demand viewing of the 50min documentary that accompanies liu xiaodong’s exhibition, borders. the film, shot by filmmaker and director yang bo, follows xiaodong’s journey through various cities along the u.s.-mexico border in 2019. this immersive documentary provides vivid depictions of xiaodong’s travels and explorations amidst the local texas-mexico border community, punctuating the relationships built during his time there. the film includes interviews and intimate moments with individuals xiaodong connected deeply with and later painted to create the works on view at dallas contemporary. 

presented in partnership between dallas contemporary and RAICES, the film will be accessible at no cost for 48hrs premiering at 6 pm cdt thursday 20 may and will conclude at 6 pm cdt saturday 22 may. this film is subtitled in chinese and english.
