the expansive solo exhibition will present a collection of brand new works alongside a survey of pieces representative of the artist’s distinctive multidisciplinary practice. histories draws attention to often overlooked and ephemeral city scenes embedded with elements reflective of intergenerational cultural exchange. featuring sculpture, dynamic installations, large-scale multi-media paintings, and the artist's iconic neon works, the exhibition transports the collective artifacts, sentiments, memories, and energies of los angeles and comparable latinx, filipinx, and bipoc communities into the dallas contemporary space.

who’s afraid of cartoony figuration?

this dynamic group exhibition examines an often underestimated artistic language as a means to engage identity politics, feminism, and social histories in the 21st century.  featuring works by karolina jabłonska, sally saul, tabboo! and umar rashid who each dare to mix the levity of cartoons, comics, and commercial illustration with some of the most pressing issues of our day. who’s afraid of cartoony figuration? presents four contemporary artists from different generations, geographies, and practices–and will feature new bodies of work made especially for dallas contemporary. it also marks the first museum presentation in texas for all four artists.

in anticipation of the total solar eclipse of 08 april, 2024, fridge has created a new project called view finder, part of ‘in the path of totality’, a series of seven commissions supported by the simons foundation, which will unfold in advance of the eclipse in u.s. locations in the path of totality.
