‘Dallas Art Book Fair, hosted by Dallas Contemporary, is an annual appointment. The all-day events include dozens of independent publications, local art organizations, plus food and drink vendors. In 2024, Alissa Bennett’s Taxidermist’s Handbook was the highlight of our haul, especially because there would be no other place to find a book like it in Dallas. In 2025, it was a stack from Brandon Kennedy’s 00ps B00ks collection of Dave Hickey books.’

‘Dallas’ only kunsthalle — non-collecting arts space — hosts its annual fundraising gala, presented by Headington Companies, under the guidance of gala artistic chairs Shayna Fontana Horowitz and Robyn Siegel, with executive director Lucia Simek. Once the main event winds down at 10 pm, the late-night action revs up with an afterparty hosted by Shyboy, the soon-to-open Dallas hi-fi bar. The party will feature a live set by Brooklyn-based DJ and producer GE-OLOGY while Shyboy serves its signature hi-balls, craft cocktails, and soft-serve ice cream into the wee hours.’

An accompanying catalogue, featuring texts by Travis Diehl, Grant Klarich Johnson, and curator Su Wu is forthcoming.’

London-based painter Pam Evelyn is presenting her first major U.S. institutional exhibition at Dallas Contemporary this fall. The artist is “known for her expansive, abstract canvases that explore nature, the body, and materiality.” Curated by Executive Director Lucia Simek, the new Dallas art exhibit presents works “created over an extended period of focused painting in various locations, including Cornwall, England, her London studio, and the Watermill Center on Long Island in New York, where she recently completed a residency.” Each work depicts Evelyn’s frame of mind during the process.

Starting Thursday, September 4, 2025, DC will be open to the public Thursday through Sunday, 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Evenings and weekends remain a priority, with robust programming continuing across DC EMPTY, Third Thursdays, Dallas Art Book Fair, the DC Summer Series, and more.
