dallas contemporary, a non-collecting not-for-profit art museum in dallas’s design district, is excited to announce a unique opportunity for creative individuals seeking hands-on experience in communications + graphic design. 

the communications +  graphic design internship at dc offers a unique chance to immerse yourself in an art institution's fast-paced world, where you establish an arsenal of career skills. this internship is designed for creative individuals passionate about contemporary art who want practical experience in graphic design for print + digital, marketing, public relations, and social media management.

responsibilities

  • collaborating with the communications + graphic design manager to create visually compelling materials for print and digital.

  • assisting in managing the museum's social media platforms and engaging with online audiences.

  • maintain graphic design + communications database and archive (e.g., exhibition documentation, design collateral, contacts lists, and press clippings)

  • maintaining and implementing communications timelines for social media, direct marketing emails, and events.

  • conduct research and create content for various platforms, including social media, dc’s website, and newsletter. 

  • assisting in executing marketing campaigns and strategies.

  • assisting in organizing press events, exhibitions, and related special events activities.

  • monitoring media coverage and compiling relevant reports.

  • gathering information and assets for press releases, media advisories, and promotional materials.

  • correspond with program partners and vendors on needed communication materials.

  • knowledge of seo/sem; analyze/report regularly on platform metrics and oversee email list growth and management.

  • updating site content regularly on squarespace and management of other digital platforms, e.g., instagram and eventbrite.

  • providing general administrative support to the communications department.

qualifications

  • experience in graphic design, video, social media content creation, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.

  • excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • strong organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively.

  • proficiency and awareness of trends in social media platforms and content management systems.

  • intermediate knowledge of adobe suite.

  • knowledge of contemporary art and the art world is highly desirable.

  • self-motivated, responsible, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

time commitment

interns must commit to working 15-20 hours per week, attend exhibition openings and assist with additional special events during the internship.

compensation

the candidate awarded the internship will receive a stipend in bi-weekly installments. the candidate will be responsible for finding accommodations and transportation. international candidates will be responsible for securing a work visa.
