look for the extraordinary or unexpected during one of your routine neighborhood walks. challenge your eyes to look for new things, items that don’t belong, moments of beauty, or objects that might typically go unnoticed. take something with you to document what you discover, like your journal, sketchbook, or camera!

see if you can find any of the items on this list!

  • flowers

  • birds

  • a garden

  • squirrels

  • cats or dogs

  • someone on a walk

  • recycling bins

  • someone mowing the lawn

  • a bicycle

  • a stop sign

  • butterflies

  • an airplane

  • a cool rock

when you get home, ask yourself these questions + journal about what you saw, or do some drawings!

  1. what did you notice that was familiar?

  2. did you notice anything new or out of the ordinary?

  3. what was the most interesting thing you noticed on your walk, and why?
