exquisite corpse
lesson plan by learning coordinator betsey gravatt
create a silly, collaborative drawing by playing exquisite corpse with family or friends. exquisite corpse is a fun drawing game for any age + any sized group!
all ages
supplies
paper
your favorite drawing utensils
at least two people
steps
start by folding your piece of paper (along the longest edge) enough times so that there is a section for each person to draw in.
the first person will start by drawing a head for the corpse in the top section. when you are done, fold the section back so that the previous drawing is hidden, + pass the paper to the next person.
keep going until all of the sections are filled, + then unfold the paper to reveal your unique collaborative creation!
other ideas
despite the name, your drawing doesn’t have to be a figure- you can draw whatever you’d like! try building a house, or making something completely abstract.
incorporate collage by finding photos in magazines that work with your drawing.
try a sculptural version by making the sections of your corpse with clay, + putting them all together!
