this free interactive virtual workshop was created and led by educator Marta Torres. the purpose of this workshop was to offer educators of all kinds the opportunity to learn and gain skills on how to adjust teaching styles to create more accessibility for english language learners. during this workshop, participants practiced learning techniques such as:

  • pronunciation

  • body language

  • helping visitors understand

  • think like a teacher

  • giving instructions effectively

  • checking for understanding

  • effective use of language

  • vocabulary

  • idioms and slang

  • grammatical structures

  • effective delivery

  • volume, speed and pause

the workshop also aimed to understand and offer a brief overview of how to successfully begin the process of implementing english language practices in museum and art institution programming.

Marta Torres is the Workplace Learning Coordinator to the North Dallas P-Tech with experience as a former business partner, and with a multidisciplinary background in Education. She received a Master of Arts in Art Education, from Caribbean University in 2016, and a Bachelor of Art in History from the University of Puerto Rico at Cayey in 2014.

As a former museum educator, she created educational content and community outreach programs for visitors all ages as a Museum Educator and Coordinator in various esteemed institutions for the last five years. Marta is particularly focused on creating interactive and engaging educational workplace content, as well as establishing open lines of communication between students, teachers, art, and the community. She has experience in management, team building, public speaking, community outreach, professional development, and company collaboration. Marta is currently pursuing her Doctorates Degree in Education.
