Position: Visitor Services Team Member

Extended employment is dependent on the museum's staffing needs and overall individual performance.

Dallas Contemporary is seeking a part-time, temporary Visitor Services (VS) Team Member. The individual will be responsible for providing assistance and information to museum visitors and staff. Visitor Services Team Members will report to and work closely with the Learning/Visitor Services Manager to enhance all aspects of the museum visitor experience.

All members of the VS team are required to communicate knowledgeably and enthusiastically about the institution, its current exhibitions, and programs, while also supporting other DC staff. A successful candidate will have exceptional customer service skills, be well-organized with a keen attention to detail, and have a strong interest in contemporary art and art education. All Visitor Services Team Members must be able to positively represent the museum and engage with visitors and co-workers in a professional and cordial manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to visitors during check-in, museum wayfinding, membership sales, and retail shop inquiries and purchases

  • Engage with guests in the galleries, attending to visitor questions and concerns

  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and security in all public areas of the museum

  • Adhere to and implement all Dallas Contemporary policies and procedures

  • Support operations for the shop, as well as public and private events

  • Ability to work special hours at onsite and offsite locations

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience/Skills:

  • Customer service experience required

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)

  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills

  • Familiarity with computer systems and Square retail point-of-sale systems

  • Ability to interact kindly with the public for extended periods of time

  • Respectful and courteous team player with an outgoing personality

  • Flexible schedule to support evening and/or weekend events

  • Strong knowledge of and interest in contemporary art is preferred

  • Experience in a museum or related field is strongly preferred

  • Spanish language abilities are desirable
